"Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed."
- Linda Wooten
You made it, I'm so glad you're here. I know there are many other things you could be doing right now; like cleaning the dishes in the sink, putting away laundry, or let's face it, even taking a nap. But you're here because you are tired, overstimulated, overwhelmed, and want motherhood to be a bit more peaceful. You've spent too much time prioritizing other's needs before your own, your self-care has gone to the way-side, and you're wondering if parenting will ever get easier. Perhaps you're struggling with establishing boundaries, and have begun resenting your partner, friends, or family members. You thought motherhood was supposed to be the best chapter ever. Yet, you find yourself feeling isolated, angry, and sad instead.
I. Get. It.
Motherhood is heavy. But you don't have to do it alone. Allow me to sit with you in the discomfort of difficult emotions and unwanted thoughts. Let's work together to make this a calmer season of motherhood.

Motherhood is chaotic, therapy doesn't have to be. Serenity starts here.
Hey there, I'm Alicia Orlopp
LCMHC, LPC, NCC
I'm glad you found Calming Tides Mental Health Counseling PLLC. I'm a mom too, so really, I get it. Therapy with me gives you the space to show up exactly how you are, which might mean still sporting yesterday's t-shirt and throwing your hair into a mom bun for the fourth day in a row, but may also mean having thoughts and feelings that others may not understand, or worse, judge you for.
You know you love your child(ren) and would go to the end of the earth for them, but being around them might at times feel really difficult to do. You find yourself angry and short-tempered with your spouse and child(ren), and immediately feeling ashamed. You want a break from being mom 24/7, but feel guilty when you finally say "yes" to getting out of the house by yourself.
It's okay to admit that you are not enjoying motherhood in the way you envisioned you would be. It's okay to not love every single moment. It's okay to want a break. I'm here to help you take care of yourself, so you can reclaim motherhood and enjoy the peace you deserve.
